Pound Location and Opening Times

The pound is located at the 17 Albert Road, Callemondah (next to the Wastewater Treatment Plant).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The pound Opening Hours are 1pm to 5pm Mon-Fri.

(NOTE: The Pound is NOT open on public holidays or weekends, No releasing of animals will occur on weekends.)

Impounded animals will only be released during these times and those wishing to surrender their animals will only be able to do so during these times also.

Please do the right thing and do not dump unwanted animals outside of these hours.

If you wish to surrender an animal for impoundment outside of business hours please contact Council's 24hr Call Centre for further advice on (07) 4970 0700.

Gladstone Regional Council Pound Facility Map

All monies for releasing of animals are to be paid to a Council Administration Office prior to picking up the animal from the Pound. Council Administration Offices are open between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Owners will be given a receipt and must take the reciept to the pound for release of their animal.

Proof of ownership is required before a receipt will be provided to collect your impounded animal.  Identification from the owner may be requested if the animal is microchipped and/or registered with Council.  Council procedures now require for animal owners to complete a statutory declaration including drivers licence details for those claiming ownership of an animal that is not registered, microchipped or identifiable as their pet in any way.

NOTE: Sustenance is applicable per night in addition to the Rescue and Release Fees

If you believe your pet has been impounded, please contact Council on (07) 4970 0700 as soon as possible to discuss the procedure for release of your animal. Proof of ownership is required before a receipt will be provided to collect your impounded animal. Identification from the owner may be requested if the animal is microchipped.

Payment Options 

Payments for the release of your animal can be made via our Online Services. The Online Payments section enables customers to make payments utilising Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Visa Debit Card. If it is identified that your animal is not registered then you will need to also Register a new animal Online or Renew your animals lapsed registration. All receipts are emailed directly to you at the time the payment is successful. This option is available at any time and at the pound facitlity. NOTE: THE POUND IS A NO CASH FACILITY - ONLINE PAYMENTS ONLY

To release your animal via alternative payments including cash, cheque etc. these are to be paid to a Council Contact Centre between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Owners will be given a receipt to take to the pound facility for release of their animal.

Impoundment Holding Periods

Unregistered Animals are held for a maximum period of three (3) days
Registered Animals are held for a maximum period of five (5) days.

Animals that are not released within these timeframes may be disposed of by Council.
Rescue fees cover some of the costs associated with Council rescuing your animal and attempting to reunite you with your animal.
