Awoonga Dam level receding at approximately 10cm per hour

Awoonga Dam is continuing to recede at approximately 10cm per hour.

The dam was at 44.61 metres at 7pm tonight (28/1), or 4.61 metres above the spillway, down 3.69 metres from its highest recorded peak of 48.3 metres on Saturday night.

Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers said the recession of water at the dam meant the threat of re-inundation during this rain event was over for those living along the Boyne River who suffered flooding during the dam’s peak overflow.

Meanwhile, the Mayor said Council’s Coordination Centre was still active and contactable on telephone (07) 4977 6655 for residents living in isolated areas of the region, such at the Boyne Valley, Lowmead and Baffle Creek, who were in need of emergency assistance.
