If your organisation provides activities that get inactive people active and/or unhealthy people healthy or you want to offer more services or support to the unmotivated, join our Healthy Active Organisations project.

Organisations receive a stack of benefits, including promotion of the activity by our team of Ambassadors, free advice and support to increase participation and obtain funding at our Healthy Active Sports Forum and use of the Healthy Active Gladstone Region branding to promote the activity!

  • Start a program to get new people to join your activity.

  • Target market to specific groups within the community (such as mothers with young children or seniors).

  • Provide cut up fruit for your after school sport or training.hockey

  • Attend our Healthy Active Sports Forum for ideas on increasing participation and where to get funding.

Feel free to come up with your own innovative ideas on what will motivate people to be more active and healthy. Remember to share them with us!

Boyne Tannum Walking and Running Group offer time trials every Tuesday at 5.30pm from Lions Park, Boyne Island. There are 2km, 4km and 8km walking/running distances along the scenic Boyne River. Bring the whole family along for some exercise and fresh air.

Gladstone Central State School encourages students to take up a healthy lifestyle by participating in fun physical activities and challenges. Regular timetabled activity sessions are held during the day for all abilities and ages, organised lunch time activities, Wii Fit and Wii Sport activities are held, as well as inviting local sporting clubs into school PE lessons for coaching advice.
The school would like to see patents and past students involved in special sporting events and event challenges.

Softball is a sport that can be played by all age groups, shapes and sizes. The primary target for Gladstone Softball in 2009 is to increase participation by men (target of 50).
Often shiftworkers find it difficult to participate in team sports, so we offer a $5 fee per game and organise teams accordingly.
The skills that softball provide are “learned for life” and participation at an early age will dramatically increase the chance that a person will play a team sport as an adult.

Wheelchair Basketball is a spectacular team sport modelled on the able-bodied game of basketball. It is played on standard basketball courts with normal height rings and backboards. The only major difference is that Wheelchair Basketballers substitute wheels for legs. The game can be played by anyone - regardless of skill level….
