Gladstone Regional Council is progressing its plans to corporatise the recently upgraded Gladstone Airport by July 1, 2012.
Council adopted the corporation's first Constitution on April 3, 2012, which sets out its expectations for the corporatised business.
Council has not privatised the airport but has provided a platform for the airport business to have its own corporate structure, wholly owned by Council on behalf of ratepayers and residents of the Gladstone Region.
As a corporate entity, the airport business will have structures in place to focus on managing exponential forecast growth in passenger numbers in the coming years and, in doing so, cover the recent capital costs associated with the expansion of the terminal facilities and extension and upgrade of the runway.
Former Queensland Treasurer, the Hon. Dr David Hamill AM was appointed as Chairperson of the Gladstone Airport Corporation on May 15, 2012.
Joining him on the board are five non-executive directors:
- Owen Williams (Deputy Chair)
- Elizabeth Baker
- Brad Bowes
- John George
- Tony Goodwin
