Flammable and Combustible Liquid Storages
The Queensland Work Health and Safety Act 2011, commenced on 1 January 2012. This Act regulates dangerous goods and major hazard facilities and repeals the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act 2001.
This meant that Flammable and Combustible Liquids Storage licences administered by Council were abolished, as of 31 December 2011.
Further information is available at www.worksafe.qld.gov.au or by calling the WH&S Info line on 1300 369 915.
It should be noted that the new legislation only relates to the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act 2001. Any requirements under the Environmental Protection Act 1994, and in particular conditions relating to Environmentally Relevant Activity 8 – Chemical Storage, still remain in effect.
