About Council | CORPORATE & COMMUNITY SERVICES- Gladstone Entertainment Centre Precinct Expansion - $21 million (Council proportion).
- Harvey Road and Palm Drive sport precinct developments - $6.5 million (subject to funding from Gladstone Airport Corporation for Clinton Park).

ENGINEERING SERVICES - Roads: Capital improvements claim $11.65 million worth of the Engineering Services 2012-2013 Budget allocation with Lowmead Road receiving $550,000, $1.2 million allocated to gravel road resheeting and $2.7 million dedicated to asphalt overlay and bitumen reseal programs throughout the region.
- Recoverable works projects: Council will undertake $4.5 million recoverable infrastructure works on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
- Flood restoration works: An estimated $44 million will be undertaken to return the region’s roads (Council controlled) to pre-flood 2010-11 condition. Under National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangement (NDDRA) funding conditions, delivery of these works is by independent contractors.
- Footpaths: Council will ensure footpaths continue to be maintained to acceptable levels with $1.6 million of construction works throughout the region and passenger set-down works in the vicinity of schools under the Safe ST program.
- Street and traffic light maintenance: Council will continue its maintenance of traffic signals and street lighting with an allocation of $1.5 million.
- Car parks: Maintenance of Council’s public car park facilities will total $315,000 with carry-over funding committed to reconstruct the gravel carpark and asphalt surface at the Tarcoola Drive boat ramp at Boyne Island.
- Stormwater Drainage: A total of $5.1 million will be allocated to stormwater maintenance and projects with renewal projects including extending the existing causeway at Marsh Road, Wooderson, in conjunction with the flood restoration program. Installation of cross road drainage structures on rural roads at various locations to minimise maintenance, Colosseum Creek Causeway replacement and upgrade. Expenditure for new projects includes timber deck culvert repair/replacement on Weeroona Road, Calliope.
- Street sweeping: Street sweeping operations will continue throughout the region with $450,000 budgeted to maintain street cleanliness and safety.
- Bridges, jetties and boat ramps: Council has allocated $1.5 million towards ongoing inspection, maintenance and remedial works for boat ramps, jetties and bridges. New projects budgeted for this year include remedial works of Matthew Flinders Bridge, Euleilah Creek Bridge and Blain Drive Bridge.
- Water: More than $13.9 million of water upgrades will occur in preparation for the demands created by future growth in the region. A new water storage facility will be built in Boyne Island and planning will occur for additional storage facilities at Benaraby, Calliope and Gladstone to increase the region’s network capacity. A total of $185,000 will facilitate the upgrade of the Miriam Vale Water Treatment Plant.
- Sewerage: $51 million has been allocated from the Budget for sewerage network improvements and extensions, including the upgrade of the Gladstone Waste Water Treatment Plant and the construction of the Curtis Island sewerage network.
- Waste: A total of $3.3 million of capital works are earmarked at Benaraby Landfill to provide additional waste capacity, as well as enhance operational efficiency at the site. A further $100,000 has been allocated to support Council’s commitment to responsible waste management, and $50,000 to support design work for consideration of a future upgrade for the Agnes Water Transfer Station.
PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT- Park maintenance - $9.6 million.
- Upkeep of public amenities through region - $1.79 million.
- Construction of a new animal pound in the Gladstone area - $1 million.
- Strategic Planning: $900,000 to accelerate the progress of the Our Place Our Plan single planning scheme for the region.
- Conservation measures - $740,000.
- Cemetery upgrades including stage one works at the new Calliope cemetery - $670,000.
- Implementing long and short-term economic development strategies - $500,000.
- Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens maintenance work - $540,000.
- New playground equipment at Briffney Park, Kooyong Park, Turkey Beach Park, Lions Park Gladstone, Bunting Park, Botanic Gardens’ Isle of Eden and Clinton Park - $283,000.
- Mosquito and fly control - $205,000.
- Upgrade waste water treatment system at Bororen Memorial Park - $80,000.
- Chemical subsidy to assist land owners battle noxious weeds - $80,000.
- Declared pest control: Construct a wash down bay at Agnes Water and bitumen works at the Calliope washdown area - $65,000.
- Survey and design for the redevelopment of Lions Park in Miriam Vale - $50,000.
- Barney Point redevelopment stage one carparking and stormwater drainage - $50,000.
- Path upgrade at Tranquility Walk Miriam Vale - $50,000.
- Solar lights at Anzac Park and Lowmead Park - $30,000.
