Imagine a park that offers different spaces for children and adults of all abilities to explore and make sense of the world. That's what will be achieved at Lions Park, Gladstone.
Project works for the premiere space commenced in July 2017 and will be completed in November 2017.
The $3.5 million project, funded by the State Government, will transform the location into a vibrant, modern area for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
Preliminary works included the relocation of the liberty swing to Hazelbrook Park, Calliope and the removal of the existing play and exercise equipment.
The project design focuses on the seven senses; hearing, sight, smell, taste, touch, vestibular and proprioception.
Residents can expect inclusive places that go beyond accessibility, accommodating for children and adults with a sensory processing disorder, auditory processing disorder, visual impairment, down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and spina bifida.
