Across the region, hundreds of people will get the opportunity to see the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen Baton as it travels through Gladstone, Miriam Vale and Agnes Water on Saturday 24th March 2018.
The Relay will begin at the Gladstone Bowls Club on Ferris Street at 8.12am. It will pass through 23 sets of local hands, travel via a couple of different modes of transport before arriving at its last stop of our region, Agnes Water Main Beach at 1.45pm.
While the Relay is travelling through the region, for the safety of the convoy as well as surrounding onlookers, the movement of vehicles within the closed areas will be temporarily suspended; no movement or parking of vehicles will be allowed.
Gladstone Regional Council, Queensland Police and State Emergency Service have developed a traffic management to close roads for safety reasons, and provide personnel to man these closures. Rolling road closures will be in effect on the baton relay route in Gladstone, Miriam Vale and Agnes Water while the relay is in progress to ensure the safety of baton bearers and their accompanying baton convoy. Roads, aside from those affected by the community events, will only be closed for a short period of time until the convoy has safely passed.
