Secure a stall now for Ecofest 2018
Central Queensland’s most popular, free environmental awareness event – Ecofest 2018 – is on again at the Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens in just over seven weeks.
Gladstone Regional Council encourages anyone wanting to have a stall on Sunday, June 3 to register their interest now and secure a site.
This year’s theme ‘Turn a new leaf, love our Reef’ is a nod to 2018 being the International Year of the Reef.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said it was also a way of saying to people ‘let’s change something in the way we live to help protect a fragile marine environment and a national icon.’
“This year, with an increasing focus on the Great Barrier Reef’s health and the statewide plastic bag ban coming on July 1, we’d like everyone, including stallholders, to think about what they might pledge to do differently to look after the environment,” Councillor Burnett said.
“It could be reducing electricity use, banning single-use coffee cups or cutting back on carbon emissions when travelling.”
Preference will be given to those stallholders who demonstrate their environmental initiatives and
credentials that align with Ecofest’s vision and mission.
There are also strict health and safety requirements they must comply with.
People interested in hosting a stall can visit Council’s website at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/ecofest/stallholders .
Ecofest 2018, which runs from 9am to 3pm, will feature industry and community groups’ environmental initiatives and a focus on sustainable gardening.
And much more….
