New tutors and presenters can add to excitement of SUNfest 2019
Prospective tutors or presenters interested in offering youth workshops or activities during Gladstone Regional Council’s summer youth school holiday program have a month left to apply.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said SUNfest 2019 would keep young residents aged between 11 and 17 busy from Monday, January 14 to Thursday, January 24.
“SUNfest is a popular annual event across the Gladstone Region tailored to the interests of our younger generations,” Councillor Burnett said.
Deputy Mayor Chris Trevor said each year Council, with input from the Gladstone Region Youth Council, designed an extensive program of affordable and exciting activities.
“Residents who are willing to share a creative skill or provide an activity for our region’s teenagers are urged to apply,” Cr Trevor said.
Most SUNfest activities are completed in half day or full day sessions with some sessions scheduled over consecutive days.
“Hundreds of our young residents participate in SUNfest activities across the region with the opportunity to learn a new skill, take part in fun events, activities and outings, make new friends or challenge themselves,” Cr Trevor said.
“There are activities included in the program which prove popular each year and efforts are made to incorporate new and different events to appeal to teenagers,” he said.
SUNfest activities relate to interests including visual arts and culture, performing arts, health, sport and recreation, social events and environmental education.
Expressions of Interest for SUNfest must be received by 5pm on September 7, with information available at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/sunfest
