Local Heritage Register set to expand
Gladstone Regional Council proposes to expand its Local Heritage Register through the addition of five locations of heritage significance, but is first seeking public feedback.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said feedback was welcomed until October 9 on the proposed additions, namely:
• Tom Jeffery Memorial Park in Agnes Water
• Mount Larcom Police Station
• Many Peaks Railway Tunnels
• Many Peaks Mine
• The Apostolic Church in Gladstone
Councillor Burnett said the Local Heritage Register managed and protected significant local heritage sites from inappropriate development of demolition.
“Sixty-nine locations that provide important links to our region’s past have been registered to date and potential additions are reviewed annually,” he said.
More information about the Local Heritage Register and the proposed locations can be found on Council’s website at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/local-heritage-register and feedback can be provided via the ‘Request Local Heritage Register Entry or Removal’ form located at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/forms
