Free workshops to boost skills and business knowledge of local artists
Gladstone Region residents can gain new skills at two free artistic workshop opportunities, at two locations, with two presenters over two days this week.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said two one-day programs would be held on Friday (Sept 15) and Saturday (Sept 16).
“These free workshops offer an opportunity for professional and emerging artists to learn and develop skills from others experienced in the field,” Councillor Burnett said.
Hosted in conjunction with the Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), separate workshops will be held by ArtReach Queensland’s Stephen Clark and local artist Felicia Lloyd.
RADF is a Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council partnership to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Councillor Cindi Bush said workshops would be suited to adults from beginner to immediate levels and would cater for 10 adults in each session.
“On Friday (Sept 15), participants can join Stephen at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum to brush up on their Arts Business skills, including Instagram for Artists, Survey Development and Proposal Writing or join Felicia in the Kroombit Room at the Boyne Tannum Community Centre to develop their Digital Art skills,” Cr Bush said.
“Then, on Saturday (Sept 16), the presenters will swap venues.”
Basic materials will be provided with Digital Art participants encouraged to take their own hardware and software, however, for those participants without laptops, Council has four devices available to borrow.
Early bookings for the workshops are encouraged as places are limited.
