The Gladstone Region Community Plan was adopted on 17 May 2011.
The Community Plan is an important guide that will steer our region toward the future this community envisions:
A region celebrated for its balanced approach to living in a friendly and vibrant community.
This document is founded on an alignment of existing strategic plans, all of which have enjoyed extensive community consultation about the many and varied opportunities and challenges facing our region into the future. It contains not only a detailed vision for the future of the region, but also many practical strategies and actions to achieve the vision.
With the community’s vision and priorities now established, energy can be directed towards implementing the priorities as determined by the Gladstone Region community. To that end, this comprehensive plan will be progressed by a community management framework. Reference groups, each with a focus on economy, society, environment or governance, will drive the actions detailed in the plan to transform the community’s vision into a reality over the next 20 years and beyond.
Having a task at hand as vast and diverse as the actions and strategies in this plan demands a shared approach:
A shared community-wide vision requires a shared community-wide effort.

Each year, with the input of each of the Community Plan Reference Groups Council will produce a State of the Region Report. The report offers the community a snapshot of the state of our economy, environment and society.
With information provided by each of the Community Plan Reference Groups themselves, the community can be assured that the information is current, accurate and informative as to the activities of each of the groups over the last 12 months and the resulting State of the Region overall.

The Community Plan Management Framework was developed to implement the actions contained within the Gladstone Region Community Plan. The Framework is comprised of three groups, each charged with advancing the actions in one of the themes of the Community Plan (social, economic and environmental). The groups contain a broad cross-section of the Gladstone Region community, with representatives from local and state government; NGOs; community groups and associations; commerce and community members.
The three groups are:
Gladstone Region Community Development Committee (GRCDC), chaired by Cr Maxine Brushe
Gladstone Region Environmental Advisory Network (GREAN), chaired by Cr Col Chapman
Gladstone Region Economic Partnership (GREP), chaired by Leigh Zimmerlie
