If you would like to register your own site or join one of the various public sites already registered in the Gladstone region, head to the Clean Up Australia Day website www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au for more information. Council will not be registering a site this year, however, officers will be assisting volunteers at sites as required on the day.
Clean Up Australia Day volunteers across the Gladstone Region had two opportunities to collect rubbish in early March.
Rain caused some teams to cancel their plans for the original event on Sunday, March 6 so it was rescheduled to the following Sunday.
A total of 145 people registered to join the clean up across 36 sites in the region, including schools, businesses and youth groups.
Council staff supported both events by collecting bags from roadside clean ups and providing water for volunteers.
Four companies - Tox Free, JJ Richards, Veolia and Burgmann Environmental Management - provided welcome assistance with free skip bins at locations around Gladstone.
Clean Up Australia Day is a simple way to take action to clean up, fix up and conserve our prized Australian environment. To find out more, please visit the Clean Up Australia Day website at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
